The Ouse and Humber Drainage Board is a democratically accountable public body delivering flood risk, land drainage and habitat management services to a large area within the East Riding.
With a history dating back to the 1770's the Board has over 235 years’ experience protecting homes, business and agriculture by delivering effective flood mitigation and water level management services.
Our primary responsibility is the operation and management of over 400km of watercourse, 17 water pumping stations and 32 outfalls structures, which receive water from a surrounding area of over 55,000 hectares.
The new Ouse and Humber Drainage Board will be formed by the amalgamation of the Market Weighton Drainage Board and Lower Ouse Internal Drainage Board. In the meantime the Boards have formed the Ouse and Humber Water Management Partnership.
OHWMP is committed to working closely with landowners and promoting partnerships with stakeholders such as Natural England, Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and the RSPB in order to deliver sustainable and mutually beneficial solutions to the wide range of issues we all face.
