On 7 February 2018 the Board resolved to levy a rate of 13.77p in the pound raising £542,664.61 from agricultural ratepayers and £651,385.95 from domestic and business ratepayers for the financial year commencing 2018/19.
Under the Land Drainage Act 1991 (Section 40) all occupiers of agricultural land and/or buildings within the Board’s district are legally obliged to pay Drainage Rates.
Drainage Rates are issued annually and the financial year runs from 1 April to 31 March.
Demand notices are sent in April followed by ONE reminder in July. Drainage Rates should be paid in full. However, the Board may accept payments by installments upon request.
Payments can be made by: – Debit / Credit Card, BACS or cheque.
Unfortunately, the Board is not able to arrange payments by Direct Debit at the current time.
The Board WILL exercise its legal powers for non-payment of rates.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council collect funds on behalf of the Board in respect of domestic and commercial properties through Council Tax and Business Rates although much of these costs are met by central government through the formula grant. The demand mechanism for these payments is called the Special Levy.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO INFORM THE BOARD IF YOU BUY OR SELL ANY AGRICULTURAL LAND AND/OR BUILDINGS IN ORDER FOR YOUR DRAINAGE RATE DEMAND TO BE AMENDED.
